Interview with Anthony Flis via Ono Buono

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

I first met Anthony at the Mt. Ascutney, Vermont race in 2007 and soon figured out we lived with in 45 minutes of each other. A few months after the race, we met up and took a weekend mountain trip & met up with Justin Metcalf, a long time friend of Tony’s. Since that day about 4 years ago we have never looked back and have gotten in to all kinds of crazy situations and adventures. But most of all formed a strong friendship that only other downhillers can relate to. I trust this man with my life. He created this web site out of love for the sport. Here’s a straight forward in your face interview with the man himself behind the scenes of www.beastcoastlongboarding.com and www.kidsofthefutureskate.com

Ono – What got you in to skateboarding & long boarding?

Anthony – All the older kids in my neighborhood always had skateboards around and then all the kids my age got into it. We had the Vans skatepark in Potomac Mills for a while and that was always the best to go hang out for a day and skate a huge indoor park. I was never good at street skating but once we all got longboards something just clicked with me and I was always just skating and looking for hills to ride. All my friends started playing music and skating less but I didn’t have a drumset yet so I’d get bored and go ride my longboard all over the place.

Interview with Hottest Longboard Mom Crystal Graves

Wednesday, May 18th, 2011

Crystal recently won BC’s Hottest Mom contest. Not only is she a good-looking momma, she skates better than you. Crystal is married to Sean Graves, a rad ripper from the East Coast. She is the mother of 4, skates, and takes awesome photos.  Here is an interview with her in honor of Mother’s Day, and mothers everywhere. You wish your mom was this cool.

BCL: So Crystal, how’s it feel to be the hottest mom in the longboarding scene?

CG: Haha.  I assume you’re referring to the recent BC Longboards Hot Mom Contest.  The results of that are just numbers Keith!  But to be honest, I’m thrilled that I won.  More so for the sake of the first prize killer deck, than the title though. *wink* I’m sure there are plenty of hot moms on and behind the scenes… but skating is not always an easy stage to play this role on.  I hope that I can somehow influence more shredding mamas to come out of the woodwork!
