Rayne Welcomes Floridian Ripper Marisa Nunez

Wednesday, April 27th, 2011

Just got this in from the boys over at Rayne, yeah they know about Beast Coast, pretty rad huh?

Marisa has been progressing her shredding for the past few seasons and is looking to take her skate to the next level this year. Originally from Lima, Peru, now living in Miami Florida, Marisa is a big part of the Florida State Race League and travels around the globe to spread the stoke with her Miami Crew and represent her sponsors: Rayne, Daddies, Skate Slate, Randal, Abec 11, Skatera, and Moon Pucks. Marisa’s looking to be a vocal supporter of ladies longboarding and specifically wants to make inroads in Latin America to help more girls find their place in the sport. Stoked to shred anytime anyplace, watch for Marisa at anything from garage races to IGSA World Cup events while she tries to take her place on the podium as the Top Female this year.

Skate District

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

I don’t know how many of you guys get the Loaded Newsletter or saw their thread in the forum but Skate District has been putting out sick Photos and Videos for a while now. This crew up in New England consists of Lauren Suchocki, Amanda Powell and Dane Webber who all ride for Loaded/Otang plus Brian Bishop of Original. Needless to say they are rippers. I met most of them up at the Longboard Expo when we were hanging out in the bar and besides being rippers they’re cool people too. Check out their site here: http://skatedistrict.tumblr.com/

Edit: I totally forgot to mention Sam Weaver when I scrawled this post out in between class this morning. Sam is the man behind the lens and is also a rad skater. Major props to his photo and video chops. (like that rhyme?)

Where Are They Now? Brian Peck

Thursday, April 14th, 2011

I met Brian in 2006 when he came down with Alex Newton and Fifi to a race I held in Northern Virginia. Since then he’s traveled all over the place and lived in the hotspots for downhill skating. Now he skates for Rayne, Paris, and Venom as well as a part of SkateHouseMedia. He’s always been a super chill dude and I thought it would be a good way to kick off a Where Are They now series of interviews with people from the East Coast that are making things happen in the longboard world.

So I guess give me the run down of who you are, where you come from and how old you are.

My name is Brian Steven Peck and I was born in Hartford, Connecticut on January 19th, 1990.  (That makes me 21.)

Before you were in the SkateHouse you were living in Vancouver, what led you there? Was there a specific event or experience that just set you off?

British Columbia was the first “far away” place I traveled to for the sole reason of skateboarding, and I kind of fell in love with the area.  I think it was spring of 2007… me, Alex Newton, Dubes, and Chris Theiler went to Van to meet up with K-Rhymes who gave us the boss local tour before we hit up Danger Bay 6.  After I finished high school I wanted to continue studying and figured if I was going to move somewhere, I might as well make it count.  I studied mechanical engineering at BCIT for three semesters before I decided to start skating full-time (read: dropped out to pursue the skatebum lifestyle, haha!).

MAX MYERS WINS STOKEM!

Sunday, April 10th, 2011

Max Myers from Cali won the race with Will Miranda of Soda Factory taking second, Will Seal and Freddy Gnardog Ortega taking third and fourth. Steve Kong won the slide jam. There were 132 registered racers between the Pro and AM classes. All in all it was a sick day for everyone. I’ll keep updating this as I talk to more people from the event.

For Immediate Release:
For more information, contact Neil “DrNo” Orta, TheDr@DrNoRacing.Com. (703) 801-1871
Madison County Gravity Fest VIII
Manassas, VA- DrNoRacing is proud to announce the return of the Madison County Gravity Fest to Munnsville, New York. Due to all the speculation we are announcing to the riders prior to the official public announcement though there is still some work to do such as nailing down the date. The date I chose did not work with one of the major supporters of the event. Tentatively we are looking at August 13th & 14th with registration set to open on April 23rd and will remain open until July 22nd and will be located on the DrNoRacing website. As always expect this one to be off the hook, and we should have all information ready to release by the opening of registration.
Any questions or suggestions feel free to contact DrNo at TheDr@DrNoRacing.Com

Beast Coast will be the offical place for all MCGFVIII information to be released and anyone that would care to repost to the fish has my blessing.
